Essential Dental Care Information During COVID-19

Here at Capital Dental Care, our protocols and procedures for infection control have always been beyond what has been required and employ redundant practices (repetitive) to maintain a clean environment. When COVID-19 began to impact the US in the earlier part of the year, our team closed our offices (before required to do so) to become better educated and prepared. Every doctor and team member dove into virus boot camp with emphasis on COVID-19.

Since our initial reopening for emergency patients, we have EXCEEDED all professional and governmental guidance in maintaining a safe health facility. Here are some of the things we do to provide our patients with a comfortable, safe environment.

The entire office has an air filtration system that cleans and circulates the air continually. In addition we have standing units in each operatory for added air quality. We supplement this with the UV power of disinfection.

We’ve limited the décor so everything can be thoroughly disinfected and everything is covered in plastic to contain any potential for infection.

We wear our outerwear for you ONLY. After each guest leaves, we change into new outerwear for the next patient.

We screen you and we screen us. You will answer some questions and have your temperature taken before you will be permitted to enter the office. Our staff undergoes temperature checks before starting their shift and mid shift.

We keep up-to-date daily on CDC (Centers for Disease Control) and ADA (American Dental Association) recommendations for dental care settings and watch trends in the pandemic to determine any change in our protocol.

Coronavirus Symptoms

Coronavirus symptoms are very similar to those of the flu, but the degrees of severity vary. While there are still many things we don’t know about the virus, it seems that people with a weakened immune system or the elderly are more likely to be infected. But in general, no matter what age or physical condition you are in, it is vital that you know your Ws whenever you leave home.

If you or a family member has symptoms of cough, shortness of breath, fever, and/or flu, please isolate yourself and reschedule your appointment to ensure the health, safety, and security of everyone in the office. 

Also, if you have travelled to any risky areas over the past 14 days that have been at risk for coronavirus infection. Also, if you have been exposed to someone with COVID-19, please isolate yourself, reschedule your appointment, and consult a health care professional.

How to Check my Coronavirus Symptoms online & find COVID-19 test site in NC

In this case, if you want to ensure your health, there is an online tool that helps you check your symptoms at home to determine if you will be recommended to be tested for COVID-19. 

After entering symptoms, if you are recommended to get tested, a list of nearby testing sites will be sent to you via email or text. This is just an informal tool that helps you find out if you require a real test.
